I’ve managed to remember do another one and not forget my New Year’s resolution one week in! The year is going well so far…
My first Christmas in the new gallery has now come and gone and what a wonderful month it was! Lots of stuff was always happening around the town, so people were all in the Christmas spirit.
It all kicked off with a Lantern Parade, light switch on and Santa arriving in style, on the RNLI Lifeboat!
It’s very peaceful down here in Cornwall in the winter, despite some of the weather, as the beaches empty and scatter with dogs and the shops all start to put in their Christmas window displays. Some were fantastic and most were part of the town’s locally run window competition. My own display included a driftwood Christmas tree, not your normal choice but then again we are a bit different in here! Winner of the competition is to be announced…
As some of you may know, New Year’s Eve is a very big thing down in St Ives, it has been noted as one of the top 10 places in the country to celebrate the evening. Fancy dress, parades and fireworks all come together for a wonderful, family welcome, street event of the year! Some of the costumes were brilliant this year. I’m never disappointed and always amazed at people’s effort for the evening.
Now with January here and the depths of winter being felt, we’re still open for those things you never knew you wanted. Throughout January however, the opening hours will change now to fewer days, with next week being closed most of the week except Wednesday, Friday and Saturday due to trade show commitments, but normal hours will be WED-SAT 10-4pm.
PIECE OF THE WEEK
Sally Welchman‘s ‘Dog Park’ is humorous, naive and fun! At £70 for an original piece painted onto reclaimed wood that she scavenges for herself, its a unique piece of work that will always bring a smile to a dog lover’s face.
